Orange Box Studios was awarded the opportunity to create 3D animations and 3D graphics for the collapse investigation of the Tropicana Hotel & Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey. With the technical and expert engineering input of the CTL Group, Orange Box Studios created several computer generated still-frame shots and animations for Saltz, Mongeluzzi, Barrett, & Bendesky, who ultimately used these images and animations in their case.
The collapse of the Tropicana Hotel & Resort parking structure, which was under construction during the collapse, occured in 2003 and unfortunately killed several people and injured many more. The case came to a close in April of 2007, with the largest construction settlement in the history of New Jersey law, around 101 million dollars.
During the process of creating computer generated graphics and animations, Orange Box Studios had the fortunate opportunity to work with Dr. Gene Corley, CTL Group. In 1995, Gene was selected by ASCE to lead a Building Performance Assessment Team investigating the bombing of the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City. In September 2001, he served as a team member to evaluate performance of the Pentagon, and was selected to head the team to study building performance after the attack on New York’s World Trade Center. Orange Box Studios also worked with other noteable engineers from the CTL Group, such as Matthew Sheehan and Eric VanDuyne.
